April 23, 2013 - Day 17

April 23, 2013 - Day 17

This morning Bella cried because she wanted to go to school instead of therapy. She was in so much pain. I mentioned that she has pain and tightness in her hips, shoulders, knees. She is not even able to put on her socks and this kind of dependence hurts us both. I hate seeing her suffer!
In spite of her pain and a headache that wouldn't go away, Bella had successful therapy sessions. She walked across the entire therapy gym with her walker and support from her therapist. She rested and walked back. That's the longest she's walked!
She practiced standing up a lot, stood up to play Connect 4, tossed some bean bags at cones, and batted a beach ball (two-handed) with a dowel. Today she was able to fully straighten her arms out front when batting the ball - a new improvement.
She slept on the way home and was in a good mood for a while when she got back.
She got very sad again this afternoon because she wanted to go to school. I have never seen a child so upset about missing school! I encouraged her to nap but that is biting me now as she is having trouble falling asleep. Brian took her grocery shopping, which she was very excited to do - anything to see other people.
She had a big day and is still in a lot of pain. I can't imagine what it's like to be completely reliant on others. She cannot sit up or move her legs without help. She gets stuck in a position and has to cry out for help to get back in position. It's so sad.
